Valentines Day is a time to express your love, and to celebrate the spirit of amore. For tips and products on getting a sensational glow (that is beauty-wise) this holiday, we spoke with Red Earth’s Creative Director Dia Foley.

“Valentines Day makeup has always been somewhat romantic, in that you can go two ways, very romantic or dramatic. Depending if you have an evening function you can opt for a sexier look,” states Foley. To play it safe she advises, “Use sheer colors, muted pinks, with pink being the universal shade for V-day.” For specifics Foley suggests, “A soft blush, a muted lip and a wash of eye shadow in pink which looks great on everyone. Based on skin tone—the darker you are use a more vibrant color and light tones should stick with a paler shade.”  If you prefer to focus on lips, Foley picks Red Earth’s newest moisturizing gloss, Hollywood Lip Shine in pink martini ($14, ulta.com ). It’ll give a fullness with little bit of shimmer leaving the lips sensible and kissable.”

What lies ahead for spring? Foley claims, “We’ll see bolder trends, like the strong nautical look with more vibrant colors of green and blue; keeping with a shimmer in shadow and blushes and a fairly nude lip, going towards a big emphasis around the eye area.”
