Sick and tired of smelly self-tanning potions that don’t work? Your sheets smell like cardamom, your panties get ring around the waste and your wrists and palms are a shade off. When it comes to beauty there is always an improved way of getting the job done. Some of the updated tanning products include SPF, others help tone and improve elasticity and the rest actually work. We’ve tested and sampled some of the latest items that’ll offer you a tan tushie sans the sol in time for summer.

Self-Tanners
Get smooth-without-streaks-and-nasty-odors with self tanning Vaseline® Intensive Care® Healthy Body glow Lotion ($6.49, Drugstores), a non-sticky, fast-absorbing cream with a light, fresh fragrance that features hints of citrus, jasmine and musk, and best part: its ideal for every-day use.

New from the pioneers in self-tanning lotion plus the moisturizer arrive Jergen's Natural Glow Firming Daily Moisturizer ($7.99, Drugstores). Consider it an upgrade product that now includes essential firming ingredients to replenish skin as its tones to increase elasticity while enhancing overall color.

A foolproof tanning recipe that women tend to use more than men is Anthony Logistics Self Tanner with Anti-Aging Complex ($28, Sephora). Streak-free, so even the messiest applicators receive a real looking bronze that we guarantee your friends will ask you how long you’ve been gone.

Fusion Beauty GowFusion Airglow ($175, Sephora) is the best shot at a totally seamless, sunless, sexy, head-to-toe cocoa-infused tan via a glow gun. Kit includes spray application along with glow gun, there is virtually no contact necessary, and no blending required.

In 60 seconds or less St. Tropez Whipped Bronze Self Tanning Mousse ($26.50, GBSbeauty.com ) gives an oil free tan that supposedly complements any skin tone. We tested it on two very different tones and indeed face and body color was reminiscent of a sunbathing goddess. Best thing about this product, color continues to deepen over the hours.

Bronzers & Powders
Salley Hansen’s Airbrush Shimmer ($12.95, Drugstores) uses one-of-a-kind airbrush technology for a superb homogenous application. The outcome leaves a golden shine unlike any other self-spray tan we have experienced.

Airbrush your face makeup like a professional with Guerlian Terracotta Spray SPF 10 ($54, Sephora). For half the cost Benefit Cosmetics you rebel, SPF 15 tinted moisturizer ($26, benefitcosmetics.com ) offers a hint of tint in a cream base formula with a tad more SPF.

Bring the French Polynesian shore onto your body with NARS Body Glow ($59, Neiman Marcus) bronzing oil that glides on smoothly and stays on a long time.

If creams and gels are too much work, opt for Hourglass Cosmetics Veil Invisible Powder Bronze ($35, Barney’s New York) for a small dose of color on face and décolleté. For deeper coverage try Bobbi Brown’s Bronzing Powder ($32, Neiman Marcus) available in several shades to suite varying skin tones.

Salon Tanning
For the ultimate pampering enjoy a 50 minute St. Tropez Body Bronzer ($140, Reddoorspas.com ) treatment that includes a gentle exfoliation followed by even layering of self-tanning lotion. For the working folks opt for the lunch-break 25-minute express ($90) service that gives the same results except you have to do your own slough and scrub prior your appointment.
