Look In Minutes!
By Leah Jayasanker

What makes a makeover a success? Is it a redesigned hairdo, brow shaping or the use of makeup? Two beauty authorities educate Vis.A.Vis with their simple easy-to-do real beauty makeover advice on obtaining an updated look in minutes.

Meredith Foster, Vice President of Marketing and Special Events for Gables Beauty Supply, explains, “A makeover is giving someone an updated look that they are comfortable with, and it can involve many things depending on the needs of a client’s skin and hair—it’s a case by case basis.” According to Foster, its effectiveness is highly dependent on whether the client is happy with the outcome. “You definitely need a clear understanding of the persons lifestyle to determine the direction of the makeover, it can include a new wardrobe, new makeup, new skincare, new hair color and a new style—yet the bottom line is giving them something that makes them feel and look right.” Some things to avoid when changing your look or updating your appearance adds Foster, “Try to stay true to your individual style and avoid copying everything you see on the runway as these looks are overstated and usually not best for everyone.”

Foster’s rule on what you should always have ‘on’ before leaving the house, “Bronzer to brighten up the face, a sheer or clear gloss and mascara to open up the eyes.” Her favorite makeup tools include; Lip Fusion ($36), Lash Fusion ($39), Nuxe Bronzer ($36) and Supersmile Toothpaste ($18) all available at GBS Beauty, gbsbeauty.com .

Physicians Formula Celebrity Makeup Artist, Joanna Schlipp, considers a makeover, “A fresh updated version of you and your look.” She claims that people often get stuck in doing what they know as opposed to what might look best. In order to get a good combination of changes in a new look Schlipp says, “Modify your hairstyle, hair color, and makeup or simply shape the brows.” According to Schlipp a makeover is a success if you look and feel confident and self-assured after it is complete, ultimately the magic of a makeover changes a look rather fast. “Use colors on the face that seem appropriate for the season and begin by looking at magazines to see what the models and celebrities are wearing,” notes Schlipp. In order to avoid making major mistakes when creating a new look she furthers, “Stay away from drastic changes and think baby steps.”

Schlipp’s 5-minute makeover; “Apply a quick dusting of bronzer on temples and cheekbones. Smile and apply bright blush to the apples of your cheeks and use a sheer lip-gloss on your lips. Blot your eyelids with blotting paper, and apply white shadow to the inside corners of your eyes (this will make them open and pop). Lastly finish off with one coat of mascara to your top lashes.”

In conclusion, only a bit of touching up is necessary to achieve a natural appearance. Obtaining a vibrant style is simply minutes away with the proper attitude and the right beauty recommendations.
