Skincare and makeup are making their way into environmentally conscious beauty. Whether it’s through their use of plant-based and organic ingredients, biodegradable and renewable packaging, or their involvement in environmental initiatives, companies give options for those that prefer to beautify themselves in an eco-conscious way. A recent addition to Aveda’s high performance, botanically based product line is Yatra Pure-Fume Spirit ($70, aveda.com ). Yatra focuses on using four essential oils: sandalwood from Western Australia, certified organic rose geranium from South Africa, and certified organic rose and certified organic lavender from Bulgaria.

British esthetician and organic skincare expert Kimberly Sayer releases her new All-In-One Invigorating Lemon Scrub ($26, Whole Foods Market) for face and body. All of Kimberly's pure high quality skin and body care products contain ingredients grown on organic soil.

Lavanila Laboratories Eau de Parfum Spray ($56, Sephora) is a natural scent sold in one of three vanilla-based aromas. Infused with powerful antioxidants and active botanicals that enrich skin, each concoction contains a heaping dose of amino acids, vitamins and minerals.

The latest invention from Walgreens is La Fleur Organique containing ingredients straight from a national park in Provence, France. Made with botanicals, which consist of a large percentage of active organic ingredients that are free of parabens, chemical preservatives and synthetic fragrances and coloring, we love Day Cream ($30, Walgreens). It’s non-oily, non-irritating, and packaged in gorgeous recyclable box.

As summer rolls around defend your tender skin from harmful rays with newly launched, Burt’s Bees Chemical-Free Sunscreen SPF 15 ($15, burtsbee.com ). Harsh chemicals like octonixate and oxybenzone are left out while ingredients of hemp seed oil and witch hazel extract are inserted in to calm sensitive skin.
