Baalbeck, Lebanon: The Baalbeck International Festival

I remember the first time I went to the Baalbeck festival, I was 15 years old and I was so excited to attend the French performance of The Hunchback of Notre Dame “Notre Dame De Paris”. There was nothing like it; an immense outdoor stage situated between the Roman temples of Bacchus and Jupiter. The hot “Saj” sandwiches were the best I have ever tasted, searing the chilly breeze of a cool summer night. It is to this day considered a popular venue for visitors and a cherished Middle Eastern heritage. The Festival of Baalbeck has always maintained its status in attracting amazing performances from all forms of art. The Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem Mass and Caracalla Dance Theater have made this year’s program. Check the website for more info.
